Fans of all things paranormal will be happy to know that there is a film in the works involving the very-haunted Queen Mary.

The Queen Mary was named in 2008 as one of Time magazine’s “Top 10 Haunted Places”, and has quite a history behind it. The retired British ocean liner sailed from 1936 to 1967, mostly on the North Atlantic Ocean, and her maiden voyage was May 27, 1936.

Now permanently moored in Long Beach, California, and currently in use as a hotel, Queen Mary is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been featured on popular paranormal series such as Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted.

If you want to stay the night in a haunted room, The Queen Mary Hotel suggests suite room B340. In the 1960s, a woman staying in the room said she was rudely awakened by her blanket being yanked off of her, and she saw a man standing at the foot of the bed. The man then vanished.

The Queen Mary has reports of guests in B340 hearing knocking at the door, and seeing the bathroom lights flicker off unexpectedly. The bathroom water apparently begins running on its own, and many guests have said the blankets have been pulled off of them, just as happened to the woman in the 1960s.

A little girl holding a doll has been spotted in the boiler room, which makes me think of that creepy little girl in Shudder’s Blood Vessel, and an 18-year-old crew member who was reportedly killed on board in 1966 after a door crushed him has also been seen. He is usually reported to be running behind guests while whistling.

Given the Queen Mary’s interesting (and perhaps haunted) history, it’s no surprise that someone would find it a great story to adapt as a film; haunted ship movies are pretty popular, after all. The Queen Mary is set to be the first of a trilogy of films inspired by the reported hauntings on board the liner.

Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness, Men in Black 3) is set to star in the upcoming film, but plot details have not yet been released. 1428 Elm will keep you informed as further news is released, so keep your eyes on our website.
