By Mads Lennon
As podcasts become increasingly popular, it’s not surprising that we’ve seen an uptick in creatives turning to this exciting audio storytelling experience to share experiences and create new stories. 1428 Elm has learned that the audio entertainment company Realm is producing a satirical podcast starring Academy Award-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe with paranormal elements called If I Go Missing the Witches Did It.
Set to release in September, If I Go Missing the Witches Did It is a timely and relevant podcast about a white woman with a savior complex who becomes obsessed with the disappearance of a Black author. As the title suggests, you can expect some witchcraft and more creepy content throughout the show’s run.

Who is Gabourey Sidibe playing?
Gabourey will portray the lead character Jenna Clayton, a writer who mysteriously vanishes after spending a summer in Westchester to experience how the other half lives. While there, Jenna started researching a group of influencers she believed were experimenting with magic to achieve popularity. When Jenna disappears, the only thing podcast host Elise (Sarah Natochenny) finds is a series of voice memos left behind.
