Just Beyond: First look at new R.L. Stine adaptation coming to Disney+ this fall

Following in the footsteps of the successful Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, we have another new R.L. Stine adaption to look forward to this fall, although this one won’t be quite as bloody as the summer trilogy. Just Beyond Season 1 is more of a lighthearted horror-comedy in the vein of Goosebumps.

A young adult series set to debut on Disney+ this fall, Just Beyond should be the perfect family show to get you and your loved ones in the Halloween spirit. Based on the comic book series, the upcoming anthology series was granted an eight-episode order and comes from writer/showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith and 20th Century Fox Television.

What is Just Beyond Season 1 about?

Mckenna Grace of The Haunting of Hill House, Annabelle Comes Home, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife fame, stars in the new show alongside Lexi Underwood, Nasim Pedrad, Megan Stott, and more.

As mentioned, the show is based on the 2019 best-selling BOOM! Studios graphic novels series. It tells stories of a reality beyond our own, with every episode introducing us to a new group of characters who go on a journey to discover supernatural beings like aliens, ghosts, and witches.

Yesterday Disney+ released several first-look photos for the series so you can get a peek at what to expect from the show.

As you can see from the photos above, it looks like a fun teen show mixed with classic horror elements. YA horror has become increasingly popular in recent years with projects like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Goosebumps, and more. Just Beyond could be yet another successful entry in the genre.

Currently, we don’t have an official premiere date for the show, but I’m guessing it will air sometime near Halloween, maybe at the end of September or sometime in October.
