What year is Stranger Things Season 4 set in?

Stranger Things season 4 is releasing next year on Netflix. But many fans are curious about what year Stranger Things season 4 will take place. Is the show still going to be set in the 1980s?

The 1980s are in the show’s DNA. It would be weird if Stranger Things didn’t occur in the 1980s, although it may eventually get into the 1990s. It would be fun to see the characters in that decade, although Fear Street already feels a little like if Stranger Things occurred in the ’90s.

What year is Stranger Things Season 4 set in?

The fourth and final teaser released by Netflix for the drama’s upcoming fourth season gave us a big hint regarding what year the new season is set in. Eleven writes a letter to Mike detailing her experience living in California with the Byers for the past 185 days in the teaser.

We know that the show’s third season took place in the summer of 1985, and by the end of it, Eleven had moved across the country. Almost 200 days later would put the show in the early months of 1986. Stranger Things season 4 will take place during spring break in 1986.

It’s possible there could be a time jump in the show at some point during the season, but it will at least begin in 1986. From there, we don’t yet know where the show will go. Previous seasons haven’t featured any significant time jumps, a few months at most. I could see there being a more significant time jump between seasons four and five, especially with how fast the cast is growing, but it’s much too early to tell.
