We’re only a few days away from the new year, and it’s time to look ahead to some of the highly-anticipated horror movies arriving in January 2022.

From the new Scream movie to a new Hotel Translyvania, there is plenty to be excited about in January. Outside of big theatrical releases, there is also plenty of smaller horror and thriller flicks coming to VOD and digital! Horror movies releasing January 7, 2022

THE LEGEND OF LA LLORONA
Limited theatrical release

Danny Trejo, Antonio Cupo and Autumn Reeser star in this upcoming horror film about the legendary malevolent spirit “La Llorona.” In the latest version of the story, an evil specter stalks a young family vacationing in Mexico. When the couple’s son disappears, they soon discover his absence is tied to La Llorona.

THE KINDRED
Limited theatrical release

A young mother investigates her father’s suicide and soon discovers a dark family history and an unsolved mystery from 30 years ago that could impact her child. April Pearson, James Cosmo, Blake Harrison, Jamie Patterson and Christian J. Hearn star.

SEE FOR ME
Limited theatrical release

See For Me is an upcoming suspense thriller starring Skyler Davenport as a young blind woman named Sophie who finds herself under invasion by thieves while house-sitting at a secluded mansion. Her only defense is a new app called “See For Me” that connects her to a volunteer who helps her survive by seeing on her behalf. Tommy Gushue, Adam Yorke, Randall Okita, David Di Brina, Matt Code and Kristy Neville also star.

Horror movies releasing January 14, 2022

SCREAM
Nationwide theatrical release

Scream, or Scream 5, is easily the biggest new horror movie releasing in January 2022, maybe even the biggest film in general for the month. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are returning to reprise their roles as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley, respectively. Ghostface returns to Woodsboro 25 years after the last attack, and this time the killer is targeting people connected to previous Ghostface killers.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA: TRANSFORMANIA
Amazon Prime Video

Dracula and the pack are back for an all-new adventure that sees the group transformed into humans and Johnny into a monster after Van Helsing’s “Monsterfication Ray” malfunctions. In their new mismatched bodies, the group must race against the clock to find a cure before the changes become permanent.
