Universal Orlando announces Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle for Halloween season
By Carla Davis
As if Universal Orlando Resort hasn’t already given us a big enough spooky season gift with Halloween Horror Nights, now more dark fun can be had at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Visitors to the park between September 16 through Halloween might just encounter Death Eaters during Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle!
You remember the Death Eaters from the Harry Potter books and films, right? They are the group of radical witches and wizards who seek to purify their community by eliminating the wizard/witch offspring of “muggles.” Muggles are common folk with no magical skills, but sometimes their children possess magic. However, these mud bloods are not pure enough for the Death Eaters.
Albus Dumbledore was killed by Death Eaters in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, so we know they mean business. In theory, the reign of the Death Eaters ended with the death of Valdemort, who attempted to throw a Killing Curse at Harry Potter. Unfortunately for him, the curse rebounded and came back at Valdemort himself.
On select nights, guests are invited to watch as Death Eaters invade the streets of Hogsmeade and cast a powerful dark spell on Hogwarts castle. It all happens in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where you can experience Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle.
It’s a creepy spectacle that includes special effects, lighting and state-of-the-art projection mapping that promises to make fans feel as if they are actually part of a Harry Potter film. The show will run from dusk until park close.
What else can visitors see at Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle?
As if the appearance of Death Eaters isn’t enough to terrify us, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle will also set loose Dementors, Mountain Trolls and even Lord Voldemort himself. The only thing that can save us is a Patronus, so keep your fingers crossed!
If you want to take home a memento after you (hopefully) survive your encounter with the Death Eaters, you can shop all new Dark Arts-themed merch. Your choices include lanyards, hats, mugs, tee-shirts and a Death Eater mask. Make sure you visit Universal’s Islands of Adventures between September 16 and October 31 to get in on the Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle fun.
