Netflix has finally announced the premiere date for their upcoming Wednesday series, and while it won’t hit in time for the Halloween holiday, it will be here before Thanksgiving.

Fans have been awaiting the release date announcement very eagerly, and were probably expecting an October date. Since the new series follows the adventures of the now teenaged Wednesday Addams, a Halloween debut seemed fitting, but the series will most likely be a hit anyway.

Jenna Ortega (Scream, X) plays the title character, and based on the trailer, she seems to be a perfect fit for the role. The rest of the cast is pretty impressive as well: Catherine Zeta-Jones is Morticia, Luis Guzman is Gomez, and Christina Ricci (who played Wednesday in the 1991 and 1993 Addams Family films) will also make an appearance, in a role that is unknown at this time.

Ortega observed that a slightly older take on Wednesday should be intriguing. “Her snarky, snide remarks might not necessarily sound as charming when they’re coming from somebody who should probably know better than a 10-year-old girl.”

Wednesday follows the iconic character as she attends Nevermore Academy, and tries to solve a murder mystery, manage her recently-discovered psychic ability and navigate relationships with her fellow students (she isn’t exactly a “people person”, if you know what I’m saying).  The series is directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, so we have a pretty good idea of how it will look visually.

When does the Wednesday series begin on Netflix?

The eight-episode series makes its premiere on Netflix on Wednesday (of course!), November 23, so you can binge it on the day before Thanksgiving, or save it for afterwards. Since I am not a football fan, I will be watching as my turkey dinner digests.

If you haven’t already seen the trailer, you can check it out here, and make those holiday plans now!
