It will be a few more months before we can step into a Spirit Halloween store, but the nation’s largest Halloween store is celebrating Halfway to Halloween with a full week of spooky surprises.

No other Halloween store celebrates like Spirit does…heck, they even made their own movie last year for the holiday!

The fun starts now, as Spirit Halloween gives us fiendish fans the opportunity to visit the famous Winchester Mystery House. One very lucky winner and a guest of their choosing will get an exclusive tour, which includes VIP access to rooms that are not usually open to the public. The winner will also get a catered meal in the Winchester House’s dining room and a nighttime séance and walkthrough hosted by a psychic medium.

Spirit Halloween really knows how to make those of us who enjoy the macabre happy, because the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California is thought by many to be one of the most haunted houses in the world.

Between 1880 and 1884, Sarah Winchester lost her mother, father-in-law, husband and sister. In 1885, she moved from Connecticut to California and purchased a 45-acre ranch in San Jose. What began as a two-story farmhouse grew over the years, as Sarah planned and re-planned expansions to the property.

She often began adding and expanding rooms, only to change her mind and basically leave them unfinished. At one time, it was reported that she had a seven-story tower built and torn down 16 times. Up to five levels were added to different parts of the abode, and at its largest, the house was rumored to have 500 rooms.

Some of the most famous features of the mansion include doorways that open to walls, rooms with no floors and stairs that go nowhere. Over time, people began to whisper that Sarah Winchester was haunted, and that was why she had embarked on this never-ending construction project. Though she died in 1922, her house has remained a strange and unusual structure that tourists are fascinated with.
