AMC Networks released a brand-new trailer and poster art for their newest entry into TWD universe, The Walking Dead: Dead City.

Unless you have just awakened from a 13-year-long coma, you know that The Walking Dead has been extremely popular since it premiered on Halloween night in 2010. Even prior to its being released as a series, it was an equally popular comic book created by Robert Kirkman. The original series ended after 11 seasons in November of last year, but not before spinning off into three other series, Fear the Walking Dead, Walking Dead: World Beyond and Tales of the Walking Dead.

Three additional series have been announced – The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne. The Walking Dead: Dead City will make its debut in June, and the first season will consist of six episodes.

Maggie (Lauren Cohen) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are the lead characters in the new series, and the storyline sees the two of them going to Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel from the people who have kidnapped him.

At this stage of the zombie apocalypse, Manhattan has been cut off from the mainland. It’s filled with walkers, as well as with living humans of all sorts, and judging by the new trailer, at least some of them are familiar already with Negan.

Although I lost interest in Fear the Walking Dead after the first couple of seasons, the teaser and trailer for Dead City look really intense, and I am looking forward to watching it.

When does The Walking Dead: Dead City premiere?

You can watch the first episode on Sunday, June 18 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  It will be available on both AMC and subscription-based AMC+, and future episodes will air Sundays at 9:00 p.m.

In addition to Cohen and Morgan (who also serve as executive producers), the series will also feature Gaius Charles and Zeljko Ivanek. I can’t seem to verify it, but towards the end of the trailer, I THINK I spotted actress Lisa Emery, who played the delightfully devious and possibly psychotic Darlene Snell on Ozark…one more reason to watch if it really is her!
