Featured free horror movies on Crackle/Redbox in June 2023
Willy’s Wonderland starring Nicolas Cage is among the new horror movies coming to Crackle and Redbox in June 2023. But there are actually about a dozen new titles headed to both streamers for the month. New titles are listed below their respective streamers.
But before we get to that, let’s back up and talk a little about Willy’s Wonderland. Here’s its synopsis:
"A quiet drifter is tricked into a janitorial job at the now condemned Willy’s Wonderland. The mundane tasks suddenly become an all-out fight for survival against wave after wave of demonic animatronics. Fists fly, kicks land, titans clash —and only one side will make it out alive."
Willy’s Wonderland was inspired by a short film called Wally’s Wonderland. It caught the attention of both Five Nights at Freddy’s fans and Nicolas Cage, who agreed to not only star in the feature-length version but also to produce it.
Willy’s Wonderland was set to release in theaters in October 2020, but, you know, the pandemic sort of squelched those plans. Instead, it had a simultaneous on demand and limited theatrical release in February 2021.
Which maybe explains the lack of fanfare. Or, should I say, lacked the same amount of fanfare that Renfield received leading up to its release. (Or was there fanfare for Willy’s Wonderland, but I missed it?)
Anyway, if you don’t mind watching ads, Willy’s Wonderland is among the free horror movies you’ll find on both Crackle and Redbox in June 2023. Here’s a breakdown of the others.
