Mega Ape, one of actor Tom Sizemore’s last films, will be available DVD and digital this fall. It’s coming to us from Wild Eye Releasing, the same studio that brought us Sharkula, Amityville in Space, Sharkenstein and Jurassic Shark, so you know it’s going to be a mad, wild ride of a film.
In Mega Ape, an animal rights activist group makes the very bad decision to free an ape from a research facility. Unfortunately, the group doesn’t realize that this isn’t just any ape. Once free, the genetically engineered creature grows to King Kong size, and begins to wreak bloody havoc all over Hollywood.
Mega Ape was directed by Dustin Ferguson (Apex Predators). It features performances by Bai Ling (The Crow, Exorcism at 60,000 Feet), Jonathan Nation (Apex Predators, Circus Kane), Vida Ghaffari (Apex Predators), Mel Novak (Samurai Cop 2, Game of Death), Erik Anthony Russo (Cocaine Cougar), Traci Burr (Space Sharks), and, as previously mentioned, the late Tom Sizemore (Heat, Twin Peaks).
Tom Sizemore was a beloved genre actor who began his career in the late 1980s. He got his first real break when he was cast in Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July.
After that, he became a star, appearing in such iconic films as True Romance, Passenger 57, Heat, Natural Born Killers, Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down. He considered his role in Saving Private Ryan to be the greatest acting experience of his career, but that career suffered as he struggled with legal problems and drug addiction.
After that, he appeared in mainly independent low-budget films, with the exception of his appearance in the 2017 revival of series Twin Peaks. Sizemore suffered a brain aneurysm on February 18 of this year, and passed away on March 3.
If you are a Sizemore fan, don’t miss your chance to see him in one of his final acting performances.
