Alice in Borderland

Where to watch: Netflix

You can pretty much ask anyone what the best horror show to watch that's similar to Squid Game, and I guarantee the first series that comes out of their mouth will be Alice in Borderland. This show actually came out before Squid Game, but it didn't receive as much hype. Many people would even argue that it's better than Squid Game, but I personally like them equally.

Unlike Squid Game, a Korean series, Alice in Borderland is a Japanese show that revolves around a bunch of people stuck in a deserted version of Tokyo, where they are forced to participate in a series of deadly games. If you lose, you die. There are only two seasons so far, with a third season confirmed and expected to be released in 2025.

Sweet Home

Where to watch: Netflix

Sweet Home doesn't involve any deadly games with high stakes, but similar to Squid Game, you have a bunch of characters in a fight for survival. The characters are forced to band together to fight against savage monsters who have taken over the city. This series has three seasons in total. The third and final season was released in the summer of this year.

The 8 Show

Where to watch: Netflix

The 8 Show takes us back to the dangerous game concept, making it similar to Squid Game. In this Korean series, eight individuals struggling with debt are selected to join a mysterious game show where the longer they stay, the more money they make. However, characters aren't dying left and right in this show, as in Squid Game. There's only one season of this series, and it consists of eight episodes.

All of Us Are Dead

Where to watch: Netflix

Like Sweet Home, All of Us Are Dead is another horror series in which multiple characters fight for their lives against a powerful threat. That threat is a bunch of zombies who have taken over the fictional South Korean city of Hyosan. All of Us Are Dead is easily one of Netflix's best Korean shows, and fans are patiently waiting for the upcoming second season, which is expected to come out in 2026.

Bargain

Where to watch: Paramount+

Last but not least is the Korean miniseries Bargain. It's another show centering around a group of characters having to fight to survive. However, instead of going against monsters or the undead, they have to find a way to survive being trapped inside a crumbling building. With there being only six episodes, this show is easy to binge-watch in one sitting.
