Prime Video is home to a vast catalog of movies. Even though it's December and most people are watching cozy holiday flicks at this time of year, the streaming service has added (or will be adding) several popular horror movies, both new and old! From the original Child's Play to the latest entry in the A Quiet Place franchise, this month has plenty of options for those who can't decide what to stream next.

Unless otherwise noted, all of the titles listed below are already available to watch on Prime Video!

A Haunting in Venice (2022)

Kenneth Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot in the latest adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel for the big screen. Joined by an impressive cast that includes Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, and Jamie Dornan, among others, A Haunting in Venice is a haunting thrill ride with twists around every corner.

In 1947, Venice, an apathetic Poirot is convincedto accept an invitation to attend a Halloween party/seance hosted by medium Joyce Reynolds (Yeoh). Poirot’s friend believes her to be a fraud and wants the detective to prove it, but the investigation spirals into something more sinister when a guest is murdered.

Child's Play (1988)

With the recent cancellation of Syfy's popular series Chucky, a spinoff of the long-running slasher franchise helmed by creator Don Mancini, now might be the ideal time to return to the killer doll's roots with the original 1988 film.

There are six films in total, and many feel that Child's Play 2 is the best, but the first one still holds up. It sets up Chucky's origins, establishing how a serial killer transferred his magic into a soul that would go on to terrorize us all for decades to come.

Green Room (2016)

The late Anton Yelchin stars in this claustrophobic thriller about a punk rock band who becomes trapped in a venue with a group of Neo-Nazis amid an escalating confrontation that leads to violence and a desire to eliminate any trace of a crime, including possible witnesses. Green Room is a brutally effective suspense film, and many horror fans often herald it as one of the most underrated horror gems of the last decade.

Beau is Afraid (2023)

  • Streaming Dec. 13

Embark on a dark and surreal odyssey in Ari Aster's sprawling epic starring Joaquin Phoenix as an anxious man contending with his overwhelming mother. Aster is best known for his horror movies Hereditary and Midsommar, and while Beau is Afraid has plenty of horror elements, it's also very much a tragicomedy with an experimental structure.

It's also a very long film, running almost exactly three hours. It's engrossing and an acquired taste. Even if you liked Aster's previous films, you might not like this one, but I think it's Aster's most personal film to date and has one of the most accurate depictions of anxiety disorder I've seen on film.

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

  • Streaming Dec. 31

A prequel to the incredibly successful horror franchise set in a post-apocalyptic world where survivors must be silent to avoid attracting sound-sensing alien monsters, A Quiet Place: Day One is a surprisingly intimate and emotional entry into the film series.

Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn do an incredible job portraying a pair of survivors on a heartbreaking journey through New York for a slice of pizza,  set against the backdrop of the first day of the invasion. Character-driven stories are at the heart of these films, and Day One manages to be just as scary and tense as the previous installments while still doing something refreshing and different.
