A Quiet Place star Djimon Hounsou cast in horror-thriller The Monster
Djimon Hounsou, who is known for starring in the horror movies A Quiet Place Part II and A Quiet Place: Day One, has just been cast in an upcoming horror-thriller titled The Monster. Below, we shared all that we know about his casting and the film.
The Monster will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. You might recognize Bousman as the director behind four of the Saw movies: Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV and Spiral. He will be helming The Monster from a script co-written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Unsane).
Additionally, Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts and Saw producer Mark Burg are producing the film, which is set to start filming in November in Danbury, Connecticut.
Here's what movie producer Burg had to say about working on this upcoming horror flick via Deadline:
"Darren sent me a script with incredible twists and turns and the opportunity to work with him and the brilliant Djimon Hounsou. This movie will be amazing and scare the hell out of audiences worldwide."
- Mark Burg
In a statement to Deadline, Nelson and Tish also expressed their excitement about working with Hounsou and the crew to make The Monster.
"We love finding new ways into horror and when we read The Monster we knew it was special. With Djimon and the minds behind one of horror’s biggest franchises, genre fans are in for something fresh and scary."
- Lee Nelson and David Tish
The plot centers around two millennials who make fast cash by illegally renting out lavish New York City apartments they don’t own to unsuspecting tenants. Their scheme runs smoothly until they encounter an apartment owner with a dark secret who turns the tables on them.
It's unknown who Hounsou will be playing at the moment, but our guess is that he'll portray the apartment owner with the dark secret. Once his character details are revealed, we'll let you know right away. No other actors have been attached to this project yet.
Besides the Quiet Place movies, Hounsou is best known for starring as Korath the Pursuer in the Marvel movies Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. He also reprised this role in the superhero anthology series What If...?.
Three of his most recent projects are the movies Gran Turismo, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. Other than The Monster, we'll see him next in the upcoming survival thriller Last Breath, which is set for a Feb. 28, 2025 release in theaters.
