It's not Halloween yet, but we're already getting into the spooky spirit with Blumhouse Horrorverse on Meta Horizon! Meta Horizon is about to become much more frightening with the introduction of this new horror-themed social experience coming this May.
Blumhouse Horrorverse will officially launch on the platform on Thursday, May 22, 2025, and allow people to interact with and experience famous horror movies in a new, immersive way. It will be available to users who have the Meta Quest VR headset, allowing them to enter the horror world in virtual reality. It will also be accessible on the web (https://horizon.meta.com) and through the Meta Horizon mobile app, enabling users without a headset to join in on the experience. You can sign up in advance right now to participate in the event.
This horror-themed experience will allow fans to step inside a horror movie, meaning they can interact within a virtual environment inspired by well-known Blumhouse and Universal horror films and franchises. You'll be able to play as iconic villains like M3GAN, characters from The Purge, and more, bringing your favorite nightmares to life.
Blumhouse Horrorverse drops you into a theme park-style world set in a dark, fog-filled forest, with the towering, ominous Blumhouse mansion standing at its heart. The woods serve as a playground for horror fans to roleplay, explore, and socialize, offering a variety of activities inspired by Blumhouse favorites. We're talking about a Purge-themed target practice, a Wolf Man mini-game, and even a special screening area featuring exclusive Blumhouse content.
As you explore the world more, you'll uncover more chilling environments based on Blumhouse and Universal films like M3GAN, Wolf Man, The Black Phone and Happy Death Day. But the main event happens when you enter the Blumhouse building itself. This is where the Survival Lockdown game awaits. Pull the Lockdown lever to start the game, and players inside will be randomly assigned as either victims or villains. Victims must team up to find hidden keycards and break free, while villains who can take the form of terrifying characters from fan-favorite movies work to hunt down every last survivor before they escape.
This sounds like the ultimate horror fan experience, and I can't wait to play it myself! Remember, Blumhouse Horrorverse is launching on Meta Horizon on May 22.
