So far this year, A24 has released two horror films: Opus and Death of a Unicorn. Next up for the indie powerhouse in 2025 is the Australian horror film Bring Her Back, and the official trailer has just dropped. After checking it out, we can confidently say it looks like a deeply disturbing film, making it a must-watch for horror fans.
Bring Her Back comes from Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou. If their names sound familiar, it’s likely because you saw their 2023 box-office hit, the supernatural horror Talk to Me. Now, they're finally back with their second chilling new entry into the horror genre, promising to deliver another terrifying experience. The twin brother duo helmed the horror project from a script that Danny wrote with Bill Hinzman. A24 serves as the distributor.
Take a look at the creepy trailer below for Bring Her Back for a sneak peek of what's to come in the film!
Though Bring Her Back and Talk to Me are entirely different films, they both revolve around the theme of possession. In Talk to Me, we saw teenagers playing a dangerous game involving an embalmed hand that let them talk with spirits. The evil spirits would possess the teens, causing them to act and behave strangely. Bring Her Back sees two siblings witness a demonic ritual taking place at the home of their new, grieving foster mother.
Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins stars in the leading role of the foster mother. Based on the trailer, it appears her character lost a child in the past and continues to struggle with the deep grief that lingers. This seems to be the catalyst for the ritual. Jonah Wren Phillips and Sora Wong portray the brother and sister who are adopted by Hawkins' character. Then, there's Billy Barratt, playing another one of Hawkins' character's adopted kids. However, his character seems to be involved in the sinister ritual. Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, and Liam Damons are also in the cast.
There have been two posters for the horror flick released so far. You can check them out right below!

So, when exactly is this new possession horror flick hitting theaters? You can expect to see Bring Her Back hit the big screen in the U.S. on May 30, 2025. No other big horror movie release comes out on this date, so your focus should be on this eerie new A24 horror film. If the trailer is anything to go by, then I'd say we're in for an unforgettable cinematic experience!
