As we enter the final stretch of 2024, Hulu is turning up the scare factor with a trio of must-see horror movies dropping on its platform this December. These films were all released in theaters this year. If you didn't get the chance to see any of them then, you will get to watch them from the comfort of your home very soon.

Cuckoo

Leading the pack is the Neon horror flick Cuckoo. Tilman Singer, who is best known for being behind the German supernatural horror film Luz, wrote the script and directed the movie. It stars Euphoria's Hunter Schafer as a teenage girl named Gretchen, who, after being forced to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps, starts experiencing bizarre occurrences and eerie visions. She soon realizes that the seemingly perfect resort hides dark secrets and that her life is in grave danger.

Also joining Schafer in the cast are Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Jessica Henwick, Dan Stevens, Greta Fernández, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, and others. There's no denying that Cuckoo is one of the best Neon horror films of 2024. If you haven't seen it yet or want to watch it again, you can start streaming it on Hulu on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024.

The Inheritance

Coming up next is The Inheritance. Alejandro Brugués helmed this horror movie from a screenplay co-written by Chris LaMont and Joe Russo. It's the eve of billionaire Charles Abernathy's 75th birthday, but something isn't right. He's convinced that someone or something will try to kill him that night. To make sure this doesn't happen, he summons his estranged children back home, placing their inheritances at stake in order to secure their assistance in keeping him alive.

The movie's cast is made up of Bob Gunton, Peyton List, Briana Middleton, Rachel Nichols, Austin Stowell, David Walton, and Reese Alexander. The Inheritance will make its landing on Hulu on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024.

Amber Alert

So, the last film we'll be talking about in this article is Amber Alert. Now, it's not necessarily a horror movie. In fact, it's more of a thriller. However, we believe horror fans would enjoy this movie as well. Kerry Bellessa directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Joshua Oram. This would be their third collaboration, having worked together on two other horror films in the past. Those movies were Immanence (2022) and Amber Alert (2012).

Jaq is eager to start her first day at a new job. She takes a lift to work from Shane, a rideshare driver working to earn some extra cash, not knowing that soon she and him will engage in a high-speed chase. What was supposed to be a simple ride to her job turns into something else when Jaq and Shane both receive alerts about a child abduction. Realizing they are right behind the kidnapper's car, they embark on a high-speed chase across the city to track down the abductor and rescue the child.

Hayden Panettiere and Tyler James Williams star in the leading role of Jaq and Shane. Joining them in the cast are Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Kevin Dunn, Kurt Oberhaus, Katie McClellan, Ducky Cash, Claire Slemmer, and Dinora Walcott. Amber Alert is slated to be released on Hulu on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024.
