The Halloween warm-up has begun, and Shudder is here for it with their September additions. Coming to Shudder for the month of pre-Halloween are Dangerous Animals, House on Eden, new Greg Nicotero reality series Guts & Glory and plenty of Shudder Resurrected titles that we know and love.

September 1:

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (season 1) – In the first season of this Walking Dead spinoff, Daryl ends up washed ashore in France, with no idea of how he even got there. Planning to get back home, Daryl starts to form relationships, which throws a wrench in his plans.

Access: Horror 2025 Shorts Program – “Short films from the 2025 Access: Horror Festival explore fear, beauty, and transformation, and they center on disabled, intersectional bodies and horror as a space of resistance and rebirth.”

28 Weeks Later – The first sequel to 28 Days Later sees the United States Army working to clear part of London in the hopes that survivors can have a place to start anew. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out that way.

Bride of Frankenstein – “Mary Shelley reveals the main characters of her novel survived: Baron Henry Frankenstein, goaded by an even madder scientist, builds his monster a mate.”

Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight – A demon in human form known as The Collector pursues Frank Brayker, hoping to get a key that holds the blood of Christ.

Tales From the Crypt: Bordello of Blood – A private investigator is hired by a woman to look into the disappearance of her younger brother. He ends up at a funeral parlor that also happens to double as a vampiric bordello.

Tales From the Hood – In this horror anthology, a mortician named Mr. Simms (played by Clarence Williams III) tries to save teen drug dealers by sharing four terrifying tales with them.

Jawbreaker – Four popular high school girls’ lives are turned upside down when three of them play an ultimately fatal prank on the other.

The Craft – A few months before Scream was released, Naeve Campbell appeared in this iconic flick about a coven of teen witches at a Catholic school.

Spin the Bottle – “The story of teenagers in small town Texas who unleash a deadly force after playing the famous game in an abandoned house where a grisly massacre once took place.”

American Psycho – Christian Bale is Patrick Bateman, an investment banker by day and a serial killer by night. So iconic is this film that a stage musical adaptation was even mounted.

Haunt – A personal favorite of mine, this Halloween-set horror film is set at a seasonal haunt that turns out to WAY more intense (and real) than Harper and her friends expect.

Devoured – “A Latina immigrant mother, tormented by malevolent forces living within the walls of an old New York City restaurant where she works, struggles to escape and return to her son before the evil drives her completely mad.”

DANGEROUS ANIMALS
Dangerous Animals Production Still

September 5:

Dangerous Animals – One of Shudder’s newest originals, Dangerous Animals is about Zephyr, a young American in Australia. When she is abducted by a serial killer who is fascinated with sharks, Zephyr must outsmart him before he kills her.

September 9:

Guts & Glory – Special effects artist Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) mounted this competition show, in which competitors are thrust into “an immersive horror experience full of unexpected challenges.”

September 15:

Bitten seasons 1-3 – Elena is a werewolf who is torn between a life with her human boyfriend, and her werewolf family.

Hagazussa – Albrun is a 15th-century goat-herder in the Alps, and when she loses her mother in a very strange incident, she goes off the deep end mentally.

Rounding – Medical resident James transfers to a small-town hospital hoping for a fresh start after a lapse in judgement in his former location causes him to be ridden with guilt. But he soon gets caught up in a case involving a young patient with a mysterious illness.

Medusa 2021 – A gang of young Brazilian women roam the streets in an effort to control everyone and everything in the vicinity.

Candy Land – When Remy leaves a cult, she ends up a truck stop sex worker (known as “lot lizards”), and has to contend with what is suspected to be a serial killer.

Night of the Reaper

September 19:

Night of the Reaper – “In the wake of the brutal murder of a teenaged babysitter, College Student Deena returns home for the weekend and is roped into a babysitting gig of her own. When the local sheriff is mailed a piece of evidence that proves the murder may not have been an isolated incident, he is led on a scavenger hunt to reveal the killer may be planning a sequel.”

September 21:

The Autopsy of Jane Doe – I am a lifelong horror fan, and this one scared me (not an easy task), so it’s one of my personal favorites. Father and son coroners perform an autopsy on a mysterious body during a stormy night, and a lot of crazy s**t happens.

September 22:

Perewangan – In this Indonesian horror film, siblings have to contend with a demon that has tormented their family for several generations.

Pabrik Gula (Sugar Mill) – Workers at a sugar factory have to face down supernatural forces.

September 26:

House on Eden – Kris, Celina and videographer Jay are paranormal investigators who think they are on just another haunting case. They get more than they bargained for when they end up investigating a mysterious house in the woods. House on Eden features social media stars Celina Myers, Kris Collins and Jason-Christopher Myers.
