With so many thrilling horror films hitting theaters this summer, like The Ritual, Dangerous Animals, 28 Years Later, M3GAN 2.0, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Weapons, it's hard to choose what to watch. But there's one film you absolutely can't miss if you're a fan of survival horror. It's Dangerous Animals, and IFC Films just released its intense and action-filled trailer that will surely grab your attention!
Sean Byrne, who is known for writing and directing the horror films The Loved Ones and The Devil's Candy, is behind Dangerous Animals. He helmed the movie while Nick Lepard (Keeper) penned the script. In addition, IFC Films and Shudder are the film's distributors for the U.S. It is set to make its world premiere at the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, with a theatrical release in the U.S. scheduled for June 6, 2025
From the movie's title, you would think this would be just your typical creature feature. Nope. Think again! Bloodthirsty sharks are in the mix, but the real threat is a shark-obsessed killer taking a surfer captive on his boat and forcing her into a deadly game of survival, where both the ocean’s predators and his twisted mind threaten her every move.
Imagine finding yourself in this nightmarish situation. You're trapped on a boat, surrounded by the relentless threat of sharks, with your only hope for survival dependent on outsmarting a ruthless killer who always seems to be one step ahead. Do you think you would have the willpower to outthink your captor and survive? That's a chilling dilemma Dangerous Animals forces its characters and the audience to grapple with.
Hassie Harrison stars in the leading role in the film as Zephyr. Zephyr is a young surfer who finds herself in the crosshairs of a deranged man with a deadly shark obsession. Jai Courtney plays the role of Tucker, the twisted serial killer who idolizes sharks. Josh Heuston and Ella Newton also star in the film.
