What's so great about Tubi is that it offers a massive library of horror films that are completely free to watch. Some are classics, while others are bizarre deep cuts or underrated titles that horror fans may have missed the first time around. One such film is The Curse of the Necklace, a horror flick that was released on the platform back in October 2024 but barely made any noise. That's why I'm here to shine a light on this hidden gem and explain why it's absolutely worth adding to your watchlist.

Let's be honest. Tubi doesn't always carry the best horror content, but when you come across one that actually delivers, it feels like a real win. That's how it felt when I stumbled upon The Curse of the Necklace. I wasn't familiar with the movie's director (Juan Pablo Arias Muñoz) or the screenwriter (John Ducey), but its synopsis drew me in right away. As a fan of supernatural horrors involving demons and spirits, the premise of a cursed necklace connected to a malevolent spirit of a young boy was too compelling to ignore. And thankfully, it did not disappoint.

From the start, the story is unsettling. We're taken back to the '60s, where the Davis family is already in the midst of turmoil. Laura and Frank’s marriage has unraveled due to Frank’s abusive behavior, and the tension in the household is palpable. Laura’s decision to kick Frank out and return to work as a nurse only intensifies the family’s strain. But things take a darker turn when Frank, in a desperate attempt to win Laura back, gives her an antique necklace with an eerie past. As soon as the necklace enters their home, bizarre and disturbing occurrences begin, and the once fragile family is soon trapped in a nightmare where they must confront an evil spirit that threatens their very lives.

What's interesting about The Curse of the Necklace is that it takes your typical haunted object story and turns it into something much more disturbing. Rather than leaning heavily on common supernatural clichés, the film carefully creates an atmosphere of unease from the moment the necklace enters the home. The tension gradually intensifies, and as unsettling occurrences begin to unfold, you’ll find yourself wondering how much worse things will get. But don’t think for a second that there aren’t any jump scares because they’re definitely there, and they hit at just the right moments.

I also have to highlight the cast's performances. I was already familiar with the actors portraying the Davis family, as they had appeared in other horror projects I’ve seen before. Sarah Lind, Henry Thomas, Violet McGraw, and Madeleine McGraw all gave strong performances that really brought the characters to life.

Sarah Lind, as Laura, delivered a powerful portrayal of a woman desperately trying to protect her family while dealing with the unraveling of her own life. Henry Thomas brought layers to Frank, skillfully portraying a man caught between remorse and a desperate need for redemption. Then, there were the McGraw sisters who brought an incredible depth to their roles as Ellen and Judy, Laura and Frank's daughters. If it weren't for their solid acting, the emotional core of the story wouldn’t have hit as hard.

Hopefully, I've convinced you enough to want to watch this chilling horror film. If you're ready, The Curse of the Necklace is waiting for you on Tubi right now and it's completely free to stream. All you need to do is hit play and let the haunting unravel right before your eyes!
