Blumhouse kicked off its 2025 horror lineup with Wolf Man in January. Next, the psychological horror film The Woman in the Yard will be released in March, followed by the upcoming horror thriller Drop in April. To build excitement for Drop's release, Blumhouse just released the gripping official trailer for the film. We shared it above.
If you got the chance to see Wolf Man in theaters, you likely caught the trailer for Drop. Moviegoers were treated to a chilling glimpse of the upcoming horror thriller during the previews. Now, everyone has the opportunity to see the full trailer online. After watching the 2-minute and 41-second trailer, I have so many thoughts. What I will say is that this movie will make you rethink whether dating is worth the risk, especially if a simple date could put you in grave danger.
Directed by Christopher Landon (Freaky, Paranormal Activity film series) from a screenplay co-written by Jillian Jacobs (Fantasy Island) and Chris Roach (Truth or Dare), Drop stars Emmy-nominated actress Meghann Fahy as a widowed woman who decides to finally put herself back there and go on a date, only to find herself caught in a terrifying situation with an unseen tormentor.
Violet is a single mom who is about to go on a date for the first time in a long time. After sitting down in an upscale restaurant and hitting it off with her date, everything seems to be going perfectly. That's until she begins receiving unsettling, mysterious messages from an unseen tormenter. What starts as a nice evening takes a dark turn when the tormentor demands she follow their orders without telling anyone, or else her son and sister will be murdered. The most shocking demand of all: she must kill her charming date.
Fahy stars in the leading role of Violet. You might recognize her from her previous roles on the TV shows The Bold Type, The White Lotus and The Perfect Couple. Her most recent role was starring in the horror comedy flick Your Monster. Joining her in the Drop cast are Brandon Sklenar, Jeffery Self, Gabrielle Ryan Spring, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, Ed Weeks, Travis Nelson, and Reed Diamond. Sklenar plays the role of Violet's date, Henry.
Universal Pictures will release Drop in theaters on Friday, April 11, 2025. Don't forget to mark your calendar and clear your schedule!
