Death is right around the corner. The popular horror franchise Final Destination is officially returning later this year, and now we have a release date! The sixth film in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, will hit theaters on May 16, 2025.

Bloodlines is the first new entry into the franchise since the fifth film was released in 2011. This May is an apt time to release the latest movie because it comes just a few months after the franchise's 25th anniversary. The original film, directed by James Wong, came out in 2000.

Details regarding the plot of Bloodlines are being kept under wraps, but there are theories that this film will focus on how Death could stalk the children of survivors. The title itself sounds like it could be hinting toward familial relationships.

Legendary actor Tony Todd, who sadly passed away in November last year, is believed to return as William Bludworth. Bloodlines also introduces new characters from actors Brec Bassinger, Teo Briones, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Richard Harmon, and more. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein co-directed the movie, which was co-written by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, based on a story from Jon Watts, Busick, and Taylor.

This summer is shaping up to be a promising one for nostalgic hits. A few months after Final Destination returns, we'll get a new entry into the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, set for a July 18 release.

The sixth movie will be released in IMAX theaters, too, which will be a fun way to experience what are sure to be some gruesome new death sequences. Some of the previous highlights include the roller coaster breakdown, the tanning bed scene, the highway pile-up, and the plane crash that started it all.

Almost every Final Destination fan has at least one death they think about frequently. I'm pretty sure the third film scared an entire generation off of tanning beds for good and who doesn't think of these movies when driving behind a logging truck?

The next movie could take many different directions, but one thing we know for sure is that Death will return to stalk survivors in some way.
