Today is a big day, horror fans! There's been more good news about the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, and it's regarding the casting of an original cast member. This OG cast member from the 1997 slasher had been in talks for a while now to return in her iconic role, but there hadn't been any confirmation. Well, we have that confirmation now. Jennifer Love Hewitt will officially be stepping back into the shoes of Julie James in the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot! The talented actress shared the news via social media.

This amazing news comes just a week after learning that production has started on the new movie. Hewitt will be joining fellow OG cast member Freddie Prinze Jr., who was officially confirmed to return back in September. He will reprise his role as Ray Bronson, Julie's boyfriend. Both Hewitt and Prinze Jr. starred in the first film, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and its sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

There's still one last original cast member that we're hoping signs on to the reboot, and that's Brandy Norwood. She played Karla in the 1998 sequel. Back in August, Brandy stated that she had received a call about the new movie, but we still don't have confirmation that she's joined the cast. Fingers crossed!

The current cast lineup includes Hewitt, Prinze Jr., Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nicholas, Gabbriette, and Billy Campbell. Camila Mendes was originally cast in this film but dropped out earlier on due to scheduling issues.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing from a script written by herself and Sam Lansky. Additionally, Neal Moritz is signed on as a producer. Unfortunately, information about the plot is being withheld. The only other piece of information we know about this highly anticipated reboot is its official release date. Sony will release this new slasher in theaters on July 18, 2025. Don't forget to save the date!
