One of the upcoming horror movies to be on the lookout for is the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, also known as the legacy sequel. Over the past couple of months, we've been learning a lot of new information about this highly anticipated film, such as who's going to be in it, where it'll fall in the I Know What You Did Last Summer universe, the official release date, and if any original cast members will be returning.

While plot details are still being kept close to the chest, what we do know is that Camila Mendes (Riverdale, Do Revenge), Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Sarah Pidgeon (Lazareth), Tyriq Withers (Atlanta), and Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid) are set to star and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in discussions to return. We also know that this film won't ignore the events of the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and that it will be headed to theaters on July 18, 2025.

In July 2024, singer-actress Brandy Norwood spoke with The Hollywood Reporter during promotions for the Disney+ musical comedy Descendants: The Rise of Red. When asked about her thoughts on the reboot and if she'd received a call about reprising her role as Karla from I Still Know, Brandy told THR that she had no idea about the reboot and that she hadn't received a call to return. However, she said she'd be down to come back, even jokingly saying that Hewitt and Prinze Jr. need to give her a call. Karla was the only other survivor in I Still Know besides Hewitt's Julie character and Prinze Jr.'s Ray character.

Well, it looks like Brandy did end up receiving that call after all. While promoting her upcoming A24 horror film The Front Room, Brandy spoke with Entertainment Tonight and was asked if she'd finally been contacted about the reboot. She responded by saying that she had and that "we'll see what happens." So, it looks like discussions are officially being had about her potential return. Hopefully, everything works out because we would love to see Brandy come back as Karla.

She and Julie need to be reunited. I mean, even Brandy hopes to work with Hewitt again on the reboot, telling ET that she hadn't seen her in a long time and would love to see her.

Here's a clip of the ET interview where Brandy talks about her potential return in the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot via the Critical Overlord X account.
