Ginny & Georgia star Felix Mallard to lead upcoming creature feature Nest
Felix Mallard, best known for his breakout role as Marcus Baker in Ginny & Georgia, is stepping into a darker, more thrilling role. He is set to star in an upcoming creature feature called Nest. Prepare for a wild ride as the actor enters a terrifying home invasion story where the threat isn't humans but a giant female spider!
This will be the first-ever horror-esque project Mallard has starred in. Besides Ginny & Georgia, the young Australian actor has had roles in other TV shows such as Neighbours, Happy Together, Locke & Key and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. He also played the role of Roamer in the Netflix teen romantic drama All the Bright Places. His most recent project was starring in the Max romantic drama film Turtles All the Way Down.
Guy Edmonds, who is known for co-creating the Australian children's television series Hardball, is writing the script as well as directing. He will make his feature directorial debut with this movie. Joe Weatherstone is signed on as an executive producer, while Melissa Kelly and Bethany Jones are producing. In addition, Jones, along with script consultant Daina Reid, helped Edmonds develop the script.
Architect has begun worldwide sales on this movie for this week’s American Film Market (AFM). Additionally, production is expected to start sometime in Q2 in Australia. That means we're looking at filming starting somewhere in April, May, or June 2025.
Nest centers around a young family of three who, after moving into their new home, discover that a large female spider is already occupying it. Mallard will play the main character, Remy, a new father who must fight to save his family from a bunch of skin-crawling creatures. At the moment, it's unknown who will be portraying Remy's wife, Grace, or their little baby, Zoe.
Writer-director Guy Edmonds had this to say about his new movie via Deadline:
"Nest is every parent’s worst nightmare. It’s a home invasion film from within, which becomes a fight to defend their child as the house is infested by another family: of spiders!"
- Guy Edmonds
Producer Bethany Jones also had something to say about Nest via Deadline:
"Guy has written a skin-crawling creature feature with a beating heart – focused on a couple you’ll fall in love with and want to see thrive as they’re threatened by a nightmarish intruder."
- Bethany Jones
