Max has become the new home for A24 releases, so expect upcoming A24 films to eventually wind up on the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service. In March, Max is adding the 2024 religious thriller Heretic starring Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East. Heretic is one of two A24 films coming to the platform in March, the other being Ari Aster's surrealist adventure Beau is Afraid.

Classics like Carrie and Child's Play join the newcomers along with a brand-new Max Original film. Keep reading to learn more about the horror highlights coming to Max next month!

After his charming performance in the latest Bridget Jones, watch Hugh Grant take a sinister turn in one of his most villainous roles to date. The Parenting (Mar. 13)

  • Director: Craig Johnson
  • Writer: Kent Sublette
  • Cast: Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Dean Norris, Nik Dodani, Brandon Flynn, and Parker Posey

A comedy-horror film with a stacked cast that includes stars like Edie Falco, Brian Cox, Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow, and Dean Norris, The Parenting is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated films of March. It's also the only "new" Max Original on this list, as the other films are just older movies being added to the streamer's catalog.

The Parenting follows a gay couple who invite their family to a weekend getaway at beautiful country estate, only to learn the place is already occupied by a 400-year-old supernatural entity with no desire to let these guests have a peaceful vacation.

Carrie (Mar. 1)

  • Director: Brian De Palma
  • Writer: Lawrence D. Cohen
  • Cast: Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, and Piper Laurie

This supernatural coming-of-age story is considered a classic, and one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever made. Sissy Spacek stars as troubled teen Carrie White, a frequent target for bullying and harassment at her high school. She can't even find refuge at home, where she's constantly terrorized by her ultra-religious mother Margaret (Piper Laurie). When Carrie starts developing telekinetic powers, she finally has the chance to take revenge against all of her tormentors.

The 2013 remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz will also begin streaming on the same day, but Brian De Palma's 1976 film is the superior version.

Child's Play (Mar. 1)

  • Director: Tom Holland
  • Writers: Don Mancini, John Lafia, and Tom Holland
  • Cast: Catherine Hicks and Chris Sarandon

One of Hollywood's most famous killer dolls makes his debut in this 1988 film that would spawn a long-running franchise consisting of seven films, one remake, a television series, and plenty of other tie-in media and merchandise. Speaking of the remake, the 2019 film is also being added to Max on March 1, but like the case with Carrie, the original is leagues better.

Ghostbusters (Mar. 1)

  • Director: Ivan Reitman
  • Writers: Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis
  • Cast: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis

The original 1984 supernatural comedy comes to Max on the first of March, along with the 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II. When parapsychology professors Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Peter Venkman experience an encounter with the paranormal, they become intent on investigation more cases of the supernatural and eliminating them as they crop up across the city.

Joaquin Phoenix in Beau is Afraid

Beau is Afraid (Mar. 14)

  • Writer/Director: Ari Aster
  • Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Ménochet, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone

Ari Aster's surreal odyssey starring Joaquin Phoenix is unlike any of his previous works. It's much different from his previous films, notably in tone and genre. Beau is Afraid is a sprawling epic following one man's challenging journey home for his mother's funeral. His perilous trip causes the anxiety-ridden Beau to face some of his worst fears along the way as the story slowly unravels the truth behind Beau's twisted relationship with his mother (Patti LuPone).

Enter Nowhere (Mar. 31)

  • Director: Jack Heller
  • Writers: Shawn Christensen and Jason Dolan
  • Cast: Scott Eastwood, Sara Paxton, Katherine Waterston, Shaun Sipos, and Jesse J. Perez

Four strangers from different eras somehow mysteriously end up at the same cabin in the woods. These characters will have to work together to figure out how they all came to be at this exact place and what it could mean for them. If they hope to survive and escape, they'll need to work together to solve the mystery.
