Starz just shared its April 2025 schedule and it includes a few throwback films to the early 2000s when action-horror movies were all the rage along with the more recent Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

If you're a Starz subscriber and looking to see what scary movies the streamer will be offering in April, then check out our list below. Note that all of these movies are currently exclusive to Starz, meaning they aren't available to stream on any other platform.

Resident Evil (Apr. 1)

  • Resident Evil (2002)
  • Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

In case you missed it: Barbarian director Zach Cregger is directing his own Resident Evil movie, one that will supposedly be more faithful to the original games. His movie isn't scheduled to release theatrically until late 2026, but for now we can revisit a few of Paul W.S. Anderson's films on Starz.

The original 2002 film is a great action-horror flick in its own right, introducing us to a live-action Raccoon City and Milla Jovovich's iconic character, Alice. It was devised as a prequel to the video games, with the movies forming their own continuity. The first one shows us how the T-virus was stolen from the Umbrella Corporation and unleashed upon the world. Extinction is actually the third movie in the series and follows Alice and other Raccoon City survivors trying to find sanctuary in a supposedly uninfected part of Alaska.

Underworld (Apr. 1)

  • Underworld: Evolution (2006)
  • Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009)

Evolution is a direct sequel to Underworld, following vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and werewolf Michael's (Scott Speedman) complicated love story as their respective clans abandon them. Hoping to heal the divide between vampires and werewolves, the couple searches for clues as to what started the initial war to begin with and a way to prevent old conflicts from forever shaping their future.

Rise of the Lycans is a prequel to the original Underworld and the only movie that doesn't feature Beckinsale's Selene in a prominent role (she does pop up briefly at the end, though). This one delves into the beginnings of the Vampire-Lycan War that would shape the rest of the franchise.

Van Helsing (Apr. 1)

Hugh Jackman plays the legendary monster hunter Van Helsing in this 2004 flick, which also happens to star Kate Beckinsale. Instead of playing a vampire, Beckinsale is a descendant of a Romanian family tasked with killing Dracula. She is Van Helsing's love interest in the film and teams up with him on their mission to destroy their shared enemy. Van Helsing also features several other classic monsters like Frankenstein's creation, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, and werewolves.

Five Nights at Freddy's (Apr. 26)

Pal around with Freddy, Chica, Foxy, Bonnie, and more in the live-action adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name. A sequel to Universal and Blumhouse's hit film is in development and scheduled to release this December.

Josh Hutcherson stars as a security guard assigned to night duties at an abandoned pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear's. His task is simply to monitor the animatronics, though he soon learns that they like to get a bit quirky at night.
