ID (Investigation Discovery) is premiering a new six-part true crime series in July, and the premise sounds pretty intriguing.  A Killer Among Friends is executive produced and narrated by Jennifer Love Hewitt (I Know What You Did Last Summer).

A Killer Among Friends “will explore a group of interconnected individuals who are collectively haunted by a murder of one of their own”, as the groups work together to bring secrets and suspicions to light. Will one of them be the next to die?

Jennifer Love Hewitt says the new series gives her the chance to “blend together a kaleidoscope of perspectives to tell each of these tragedies that deeply impact group dynamics and shatter beliefs.”  The friend groups that will be featured include a high school theater troupe, college friends, and classmates.

Each case will include commentary by the individuals who are involved, and will reveal secrets and revelations that have remained hidden for years.

A Killer Among Friends will debut on ID Monday, July 14 at 10:00p.m. ET

A new episode will premiere each week, and all episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max. The season premiere episode is titled Killer on Campus, and tells the story of Trent DiGiuro, a University of Kentucky football player who was shot while celebrating on his 21st birthday. Many of his college friends were present, yet nobody was able to identify the killer. As law enforcement began to investigate, Trent’s friends began to speculate that perhaps the gunman killed the wrong person – was one of them the actual target?

Future episodes include:

Your Smile and Your Lies (July 21) – Cast members appearing in a community theater production of Fiddler on the Roof are shocked when one of the performers, Jessie Blodgett, is murdered on the day after they celebrated at a cast party. Jessie’s friends become worried that perhaps the killer is part of their group.

Devil in the Hallways (July 28) – Elyse Pahler was a teenager living in California when she disappeared. Afterwards, her group of friends are devastated as they confront the fact that her abductor (possibly killer) might be one of their classmates.

She’s No Runaway (August 4) – When a middle school student named Maryann Measles disappeared, her new, much older friends fall under suspicion. As Maryann’s friends and family members start to investigate, “secrets unravel and the line between loyalty and betrayal starts to blur.”

Secrets to Reveal (August 11) -  When a group of girlfriends take a fun trip to Vegas before applying to grad school, the fun ends when one of them never makes it back home. Where is Michele Carson?

Friendship in Disguise (August 18) – UCLA student Ron Baker was stabbed to death in a train tunnel that has a connection to the Charles Manson murders. At first, occult rumors run rampant, but when another student goes missing, Ron’s friends become suspects.
