Samara Weaving, aka one of the newer faces of modern horror and one of our favorite scream queens, is booked and busy, and we're glad to see her taking on more and more projects. We recently learned that she's signed on to star in the upcoming horror flick Ready or Not 2. Now, we've just learned that she'll be in an upcoming thriller titled The Trip.

Set to star opposite of her in The Trip is Emmy-nominated actor Jason Segel. They will play a dysfunctional couple who retreat to a secluded cabin to "reconnect," but both harbor hidden motives to kill each other. Other talented actors such as Timothy Olyphant (Justified: City Primeval), Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets), Paul Guilfoyle (Evil), and Keith Jardine (Love Lies Bleeding) will star in this movie as well.

Jorma Taccone, who is known for his work on the action comedy series MacGruber, is directing from a screenplay that was adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from Tommy Wirkola’s Norwegian thriller I Onde Dager. In addition, 87North and XYZ Films are the production companies behind this film. Taccone is also signed on as an executive producer along with Wirkola, Jørgen Storm Rosenberg, and Kjetil Omberg. Karen Gillan is a co-producer.

Production is currently underway in Tampere, Finland. It's unknown at the moment when the cameras will stop rolling, though. We'll let you know once we find out.

Besides The Trip and Ready or Not 2, we'll see Weaving next in the upcoming comedy thriller Borderline, the heist thriller Eenie Meanie and the romantic crime thriller Carolina Caroline. When it comes to Segel, you can catch him in the second season of Shrinking, which is currently streaming on AppleTV+.

Wirkola expressed his excitement about this project in a statement to Deadline. Check out what he said below.

"I can’t wait to see Jorma bring his totally singular sensibility to the material. That, combined with this killer cast, makes me beyond excited that this film will truly stand out in the cinematic landscape."
Tommy Wirkola
