Can it be 2025 already? Seriously! A24 just released the official trailer for its upcoming dark comedy Death of a Unicorn, and if we weren't excited to see this movie before, we're definitely hooked now!

It stars Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega as a father and daughter duo who find themselves in a really tricky situation after accidentally killing a unicorn. That's an interesting plot, right? There are several more well-known actors in the cast as well that you'll be excited to see, such as Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hynes, and Steve Park.

Alex Scharfman wrote, produced, and directed the film, which was his feature directorial debut. He had previously directed only a short film. He's best known for producing movies like Selah and the Spades, Blow the Man Down, Resurrection and House of Spoils. A24 will distribute the dark comedy.

Now, here's a more detailed plot for Death of a Unicorn. Elliot and his teenage daughter Riley are en route to a weekend retreat set up by Elliot's billionaire boss when they accidentally hit and kill a unicorn on the road. While in panic mode, they decide to put the mythical creature in their car and continue to the retreat. But once they arrive, the unicorn somehow comes back to life, catching Elliot's boss's attention.

After taking possession of the unicorn, Elliot's boss and his scientists begin experimenting on it and discover that its flesh, blood, and especially its horn possess powerful healing properties, which they intend to exploit. However, things take a dark turn when the vengeful creature goes on a murderous rampage.

An official release date for Death of a Unicorn has not been announced yet. However, it's been confirmed for a spring 2025 theatrical release. That means we're looking at a release somewhere between March and June. Fingers crossed, the movie comes out in early spring. After watching that trailer, we're more than ready to see it!
