Horror fans, rejoice! We have some good news to share about the hit horror series Wednesday. Production on the highly anticipated second season is officially in the can, meaning we're even closer to the show returning to our screens. On top of that, Netflix decided to release a first-look image of the new season featuring Jenna Ortega back as the iconic Wednesday Addams. You can check out the photo above.

In the new image from Wednesday season 2, Wednesday seems to be standing in some sort of cemetery, and as usual, she doesn't seem the happiest if her arms crossed and slight frown means anything. While plot details surrounding the second season are being kept secret, it's obvious that Wednesday is going to find herself in another tricky situation like last season.

In season 1, Wednesday became entangled in a series of supernatural mysteries while attending her parents' old school, Nevermore Academy. We also saw her working to master her psychic powers. In season 2, we'll see Wednesday return to Nevermore Academy, and we can only imagine what new supernatural mysteries await her.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar created Wednesday and serve as showrunners, while Tim Burton is signed on to the horror series as director. Returning for season 2 other than Ortega are Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luiz Guzmán, Emma Myers, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Jamie McShane, and Fred Armisen.

Joining season 2 as new cast members are Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. In addition, Lady Gaga will make a cameo.

Back in September, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes clip of the cast and crew on set of Wednesday season 2. Check it out below!

When could Wednesday season 2 come to Netflix?

There isn't an official release date for Wednesday season 2 as of yet, but it's already been confirmed for a 2025 release. Now that filming has wrapped, the new episodes should've entered post-production, where they'll likely spend a good amount of time. We're probably looking at eight months of post-production before the new season drops.

That would put a potential release sometime in July or August of next year. But who knows! Maybe editing won't take a full eight months, and we could see season 2 a little earlier. Fingers crossed, Netflix doesn't try to hold the season until November so that it'll come out in the same month as the first season. We've waited long enough! Once the official release date is announced, we'll be sure to share it with you immediately.
