It's looking increasingly like the upcoming Dexter: New Blood sequel series Dexter: Resurrection is going to be incredible television. According to the latest Deadline exclusive, the latest star to join the cast is none other than Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter. And not just that, but Ritter has been chosen to play a female serial killer in a guest role arc.
Deadline shares that the actress is playing a character named Mia Lapierre, described as "a renowned sommelier who may be hiding a serial killer secret."

DiscussingFilm shared a post about Ritter's casting on the social media platform X, claiming the actress will play the "Lady Vengeance" serial killer, though that was not confirmed in the Deadline article.
Ritter won't be the first female serial killer on the show as there have been several before her in the original eight-season show, including Harrison's mom, Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski).
This casting news seems to indicate that Ritter is in New York to film Dexter: Resurrection and not, as fans initially believed, a reprisal of her Jessica Jones role for Daredevil: Born Again. Though, you never know, maybe she's doing both!
The outlet notes that people jumped to the superhero conclusion after Ritter shared an Instagram story captioned "NYC bound baby," and its timing came close to a recent interview from Daredevil showrunner Dario Scardapane who revealed season 2 production would be starting soon. Marvel Studios exec Brad Winderbaum also recently said the company was considering bringing back more of the Defenders cast, which could include Jessica.
But for now, Deadline says Ritter's trip to New York is for the Dexter spinoff series, which started filming in January and is expected to begin streaming later this year. The Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin recently wrapped with its finale on February 14.
The cast of Dexter: Resurrection is exciting, as apart from Dexter regulars like Michael C. Hall, David Zayas, Jack Alcott, and James Remar returning, newcomers include Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman.
As for Ritter, the actress is no stranger to horror and darker projects. Outside of Marvel, she's also starred in Nightbooks, Big Eyes, Breaking Bad, Love & Death, and the Orphan Black spinoff Echoes. Most recently she appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Director Rockwell. Next she will star in the thriller Stone Cold Fox alongside Kiernan Shipka and Kiefer Sutherland.
