The community has been holding their breath ever since the announcement that the third release in the Little Nightmares franchise would be delayed but can now breathe easy as October 10th is rapidly approaching

Developed by Tarsier Studios, Little Nightmares took the world by storm April 28th, 2017 with its adorable main character Six capturing the hearts of all. The atmosphere in the game is creepy and compelling, sprinkled with small blink-and-you’ll-miss-it droplets of lore. With incredibly little voice acting, mainly grunts and breathing as Six runs for her life, the developers relied on environmental storytelling to bring their vision and world to life. Of course this set the internet ablaze with theories and ideas trying to explain and figure out the story.

A DLC emerged later in the year called Little Nightmares: Secrets of the Maw that was released in three parts: The Depths which released on July 6, 2017, The Hideaway which released on November 9, 2017, and The Residence which released February 22, 2018. It featured a new main character called the Runaway Kid and was received relatively well despite complaints of bugs and too long puzzles.

Then a small mobile game called Very Little Nightmares, developed by Alike Studio, was released on May 30th, 2019 for android. Here we follow the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat as she follows her two predecessors in running and avoiding enemies. Again, this game was also received well, even with its more cartoony art style and exclusive platform. It kept interest in the fanbase alive for the next installment.

On February 11, 2021, Little Nightmares II made mouths drop and fans fawn over the new settings, new enemies, and also the official return of Six. Developed again by Tarsier Studios partnered with Supermassive Games, this game introduces a new mechanic to the franchise with Six being controlled by an AI while the player plays as Mono, a young boy with a paper bag over his head.

Now the fanbase, fueled by comics, a novel, and the previous games, are waiting in anxious anticipation for newest additions, Low and Alone, to join the fray. Both characters have new unique traits unseen in the games previous as this game is both single player and co-op. Low has a bow and arrows to use in a ranged type of puzzle solving and Alone has a large wrench used for obstacles. Little Nightmares III was developed only by Supermassive Games who are now taking the reins from Tarsier Studios.

As September comes to an end, the fans of Little Nightmares eagerly await for the newest release coming on October 10, 2025.  The countdown begins!
