Could we be having a Scream reunion soon? Possibly! On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Matthew Lillard appeared as a guest and shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated Scream 7. He was also asked if he would like to reprise his role as Stu in the seventh installment, and you're going to like his answer to this question, Scream fans.

If you recall, Lillard starred as Stu Macher in Scream (1996), the first film in the Scream horror franchise. Viewers find out later in the movie that Stu is actually Ghostface. Well, there are actually two Ghostface killers. Stu is one of the Ghostface killers with Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) being the other one and the mastermind behind all the murders in Woodsboro.

Viewers are led to believe that Stu is dead at the end of the horror flick after being stabbed multiple times and then a TV set falling on his head and electrocuting him. However, Lillard tells Drew Barrymore on her talk show, who also appeared in the film as Casey Becker, that he believes Stu is "definitely alive."

While it looked like Stu was a goner after that TV set fell on him, I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to survive. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time a killer is believed to be dead in a horror movie, only for them to miraculously survive and come back on a revenge mission. We didn't see Stu being dragged out in a body bag either, so who knows?

So, would Lillard like to come back for the highly anticipated seventh film if given the opportunity? Yes! We shared his exact answer to this question below.

"I would love it. If it made sense for the franchise. If Kevin [Williamson] liked it. Then sure. Obviously."

Kevin Williamson wrote the script for Scream (1996) and is set to direct Scream 7, which is set for a Feb. 27, 2026 release in theaters. Neve Campbell is the only actress attached to the seventh film so far. She will reprise her role as Sidney Prescott.

If Lillard were asked to come back as Stu, he and Campbell would be having a Scream reunion after starring in the first film together. However, keep in mind that Lillard has not been officially cast in Scream 7. If this does happen, of course you can count on us to let you know.
