Nikyatu Jusu, the visionary behind the psychological horror film Nanny, is set to take the helm in a groundbreaking new adaptation of David Cronenberg's 1986 sci-fi horror classic The Fly for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. The talented director has reportedly begun development on this new horror project, which is also being called The Fly.

The upcoming horror movie is not a remake. Instead, it's a new take on the 1986 sci-fi horror film and is set in the same universe. Jusu wrote the script and will direct the movie as well. In addition, Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are signed on to produce.

Unfortunately, plot details about this movie are being kept secret as of right now. However, we have high hopes that it'll have an interesting plot since Jusu wrote the script. The announcement of this film comes at the perfect time when body horror flicks are the talk of the town.

Coralie Fargeat's The Substance, starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, was released in theaters back in September, and this body horror is all people can seem to talk about. The demand for more body horror movies is at an all-time high right now, so it's best to capitalize on it.

Cronenberg's The Fly is loosely based on the 1957 short story of the same name and the 1958 movie of the same name. It stars Jeff Goldblum as Seth Brundle, an eccentric scientist who accidentally merges his DNA with a housefly while working on an innovative teleportation device.

As a result of this mishap, Brundle begins to undergo a horrific transformation, which sees him turning into a hybrid of human and fly. Geena Davis, John Getz, Joy Boushel, Leslie Carlson, and George Chuvalo join Goldblum in the cast. We can't wait to find out what Jusu's take on this incredible film will be about.

Jusu wrote and directed Nanny, a horror film centering around a Senegalese immigrant who takes on a job as a nanny for a wealthy white couple, only for her to begin to experience unsettling and supernatural occurrences soon after. Besides The Fly, Jusu is also working on an untitled project for Monkeypaw and Universal and a Night of the Living Dead sequel.
