As we gear up for the spring and summer seasons ahead, FX is teasing its upcoming slate, which includes shows like The Bear, Adults, and the highly-anticipated Alien: Earth series, the first TV show set in the Alien franchise (and the first Alien project on Earth!). Instead of following colonists in outer space, a mysterious space vessel crash lands on Earth and a group of soldiers make a frightening discovery.
The upcoming series is set two years before the events of the first Alien film. Check out new clips from the series in the embedded video above, starting at the 0:40 second mark.
We get to see the first look at a few of the new characters being introduced, such as Sydney Chandler as Wendy, a character described as an adult woman with a childlike consciousness. She's taken care of by Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant), her synthetic mentor. Olyphant is sporting the no-eyebrow, white-hair look in the clip. But perhaps the most exciting part of the teaser is that we get to see a Xenomorph, which looks suitably terrifying as it roars in someone's face.
"When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth from creator Noah Hawley," reads the official logline from FX. Hawley is also the creator of the FX series Fargo.
Like all of FX's series nowadays, Alien: Earth will stream exclusively on Hulu in addition to its linear airing on the cable channel. There's no release date for it yet, but it's on track to debut this summer.
The new series comes on the heels of Alien: Romulus, last year's breakout sci-fi horror film from director Fede Álvarez, a film that became the second-biggest Alien movie of all time, earning more than $314 million at the global box office. A sequel is in development.
In addition to the official FX/Hulu tease shared above, the network also posted a short festival teaser for South by Southwest, where there was an immersive Alien: Earth pop-up experience showcasing a crash site in the heart of Austin, Texas.
