When talking about the greatest zombie films of all time, Train to Busan is undeniably a key contender. With its gripping story, distinctive train setting, and nonstop zombie action, it stands out as a game-changer in the genre. Unlike most zombie films that are more primarily focused on survival and gore, Train to Busan also brought a refreshing emotional depth to the table. We're hoping that with Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho's new zombie film, he manages to capture that same balance of intense action and emotional storytelling.

Oh, you didn't know? Yeon has a new zombie thriller he's working on. In fact, production has reportedly started on the movie. It's titled Gunche in Korean. An English title has not been set yet. Yeon hasn't delved into the zombie world since his 2020 action horror film Peninsula. However, you might've watched some of his recent work, such as the sci-fi film Jung_E, the supernatural thriller series Hellbound, the occult thriller The Bequeathed or the sci-fi horror series Parasyte: The Grey. On March 21, his new thriller flick Revelations drops on Netflix.

Now that Yeon is returning to his zombie roots, we're eager to see how he will shake up the genre once again. Even his content that's come out since Train to Busan has been impressive, so we’re confident he’ll deliver another unforgettable experience for fans.

Gunche will reportedly be released next year by Showbox. While plot details are being kept under wraps, the zombie flick is being described as "the culmination of Yeon Sang-ho’s universe, spanning from Train to Busan to Peninsula." We've also just learned who will star in the new film. You can expect to see South Korean actors Jun Ji-hyun (Kingdom, My Love from the Star), Go Soo (Missing), Ji Chang-wook (Queen Woo, The Worst of Evil), and Koo Kyo-hwan (Parasyte: The Grey, D.P.). Unfortunately, character names and descriptions are not known at the time.

This is all that's been revealed about Gunche so far. As the movie moves further into the filmmaking process, we'll likely hear of more updates and details about the plot, cast, and release date. But until then, we recommend checking out Yeon's upcoming thriller, Revelations. Or, you can really watch any of his projects that I listed above for a good thrill!

Take a look at the exciting trailer for Revelations and tell me it doesn't look like something worth watching!
