We’ve got some seriously exciting news for horror fans! A terrifying new slasher that hit theaters just a couple of months ago is already gearing up for its streaming debut. And this isn’t just any horror release. This blood-soaked thrill ride had audiences buzzing when it premiered back in February. It's Sony's Heart Eyes! Can you believe it? Fans will get to relive all the brutal kills and nerve-wracking suspense of this thrilling slasher very soon. It feels like Christmas came early!
This is easily one of my favorite horror films of the year, so I’m beyond thrilled it’s finally heading to streaming. I expected it to land on a platform eventually, but I definitely didn’t think it would be this soon. With it being the talk of the town during its theatrical release, I'm almost positive this streaming debut is going to bring even more fans into the fold. The intense gore, unpredictable twists, and unforgettable moments are sure to make Heart Eyes a must-watch for anyone who missed it on the big screen.

Now, which is the lucky streamer to snag this hit slasher? Well, that'll be Netflix. This isn't surprising because if you know anything about Sony and Netflix's multi-year, exclusive first pay window licensing deal, you'd know that Netflix has had the first rights to stream Sony's biggest films shortly after their theatrical release. As reported by What's On Netflix, Heart Eyes will make its way to Netflix US on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The slasher was released in theaters on Feb. 7, so this makes three months between its theatrical release and its streaming debut. I'd say that's a pretty quick turnaround from theater to streaming, but no one's complaining!
Netflix typically releases new movies and shows on its platform at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on their release dates, so it wouldn't be surprising if Heart Eyes drops right at midnight Pacific Time on May 8. However, please note that these release times have not been confirmed. This is just based on Netflix's usual pattern. One thing’s for sure. Heart Eyes is sure to make a big splash on Netflix, no matter when it drops!
The gory slasher comes from Spyglass Media Group and Divide/Conquer. Spyglass is behind the most recent Scream movies, Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). With those being some pretty solid slashers, it would make sense that Heart Eyes follows in their bloody footsteps. Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me) helmed the film with a screenplay co-written by Christopher Landon (Drop, Happy Death Day movies), Michael Kennedy (It's a Wonderful Knife, Freaky), and Phillip Murphy.
The movie takes place in Seattle, Washington, where a serial killer is on the loose. But this serial killer is different from your average serial killer. They only target couples, and it has to be on Valentine's Day. Why? That's something we find out later in the film, but two unsuspecting co-workers soon find themselves in the killer’s deadly sights, and it becomes a desperate struggle for survival.
Olivia Holt (Totally Killer) and Mason Gooding (Scream 7, Scream VI) star as the two co-workers, Ally and Jay. The rest of the cast includes Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, Yoson An, Jordana Brewster, and others.
As of April 18, you currently have the option to rent or purchase the slasher on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Fandango at Home, or Apple TV+. But if you have the patience and can wait just a little bit longer, you'll soon be able to stream it on Netflix. It's up to you, but streaming it on Netflix will be a great option for those who prefer to watch it as part of their subscription.
