4 horror movies you absolutely can’t miss when they hit theaters in June 2024
May has been great month for horror with the theatrical releases of the horror flicks Tarot, I Saw the TV Glow and The Strangers: Chapter 1. We still have one last horror film to be released in theaters this month before we move on to June and it's the highly anticipated Canadian slasher In a Violent Nature. It's set to be released in select theaters on May 31, so make sure to buy a ticket to see it.
Now that we're about to wrap up the month of May, it's time to look at what's to come to theaters next month. Like in May, there are four new horror movies coming to theaters this June. What are they, you ask? Keep on reading to find out!
The Watchers
Theatrical release date: June 7, 2024
The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning as a young artist named Mina, whose car suddenly breaks down, leaving her stranded in the middle of the forest. As she looks around for help, a mysterious woman suddenly appears in front of a door to a bunker, warning her that she only has five seconds to run through the door before it's locked. Mina makes it in time and finds shelter in the small bunker, but she soon discovers that she's been trapped along with three other strangers by mysterious creatures that watch and stalk them every night. Joining Fanning in the cast are Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouéré.
Trim Season
Theatrical release date: June 7, 2024 (select theaters)
Trim Season follows a jobless young woman named Emma, who decides to join other people her age in making quick cash by trimming marijuana on an isolated farm in Northern California. But soon after their arrival, they realize that the owner of the farm is harboring dark secrets. It then becomes a race against time for Emma and the others to escape the farm before it's too late. The cast is made up of Jane Badler, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Bethlehem Million, Alex Essoe, Ryan Donowho, Cory Hart, Ally Ioannides, and Juliette Kenn De Balinthazy.
The Exorcism
Theatrical release date: June 21, 2024
The Exorcism is a horror film starring Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe as a troubled actor named Anthony Miller, who starts to spiral out of control while shooting a supernatural horror film. This leads his estranged daughter to wonder if he's slipping back into old, bad habits or if his breakdown is caused by something more sinister. Fear Street's Ryan Simpkins portrays the role of Lee Miller, Anthony's concerned daughter. Joining Crowe and Simpkins in the cast are other actors such as Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Adrian Pasdar, and David Hyde Pierce.
A Quiet Place: Day One
Theatrical release date: June 28, 2024
A Quiet Place: Day One is probably the most highly anticipated theatrical release in June. Set before the events of the first film, the story takes place in New York City on the very first day that the extraterrestrial creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing landed on Earth. We follow a young woman named Sam (Lupita Nyong'o), who must do everything she can to survive the alien invasion. While on her journey, she meets and bands together with other survivors such as Eric (Joseph Quinn) and Henri (Djimon Hounsou). Talented actors Alex Wolff and Eliane Umuhire are also in the cast.
