Cuckoo is coming to digital platforms tomorrow, meaning those interested in watching or revisiting the unique horror film starring Euphoria's Hunter Schafer will be able to do so at home. As one of this year's most polarizing horror movies, the widespread availability should spark some healthy debates from new viewers.

Written and directed by German filmmaker Tilman Singer, Cuckoo follows teenage Gretchen (Schafer) after losing her mother. With nowhere else to go, she's forced to move in with her father (Marton Csokas), her stepmom (Jessica Henwick), and her half-sister (Mila Lieu) in a Bavarian resort town. Gretchen's dad secures a new job helping to rebuild a hotel and recruits his family to assist him with the work. But Gretchen becomes alarmed when she starts noticing weird things about the hotel guests and, more specifically, her father's boss, Herr König (Dan Stevens).

Neon has had a fantastic year thus far. The company also distributed one of this year's other big horror movies, Longlegs, which received critical acclaim and became the highest-grossing independent film of 2024 this past July. While Cuckoo was not quite as successful, it still received mostly positive reviews and significant praise for the lead performances of Schafer and Stevens. Stevens also starred in another well-received 2024 horror film, Abigail.

Cuckoo will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in October

While Cuckoo's digital streaming date is set for Tuesday, September 17, physical media collectors have to wait a little longer. According to Fangoria, the film won't be out on Blu-ray and DVD until October 22.

As for special features, the magazine reports that it will contain deleted scenes, interviews, and some behind-the-scenes featurettes. It doesn't look like the physical version is available to pre-order just yet.

Digital buyers can pre-order Cuckoo right now on UHD for $19.99 from Amazon. Technically, the movie doesn't officially release until midnight tonight, or September 17, for those on the East Coast, but West Coast residents can start watching it as soon as 9 p.m. PDT. It will also be available digitally from other retailers like iTunes and Vudu.
