On the heels of the success of Longlegs, Neon's got a new horror movie out in theaters that is understandably catching the interest of fans of the genre. That would be Cuckoo, a German-American production written and directed by Tilman Singer. Starring Euphoria's Hunter Schafer, Cuckoo follows a teenager whose mom dies, forcing her to go live with her dad and his family. Her father and stepmother have plans to help build a new hotel at a resort owned by a man named Herr König in the German Alps, who is played by the wonderfully talented Dan Stevens.

If you're a fan of Stevens, you'll know that Cuckoo is hardly his introduction to the horror genre. If you were impressed with his acting in the new movie, we've got three others to recommend that'll surely have you hooked from start to finish!

Apostle

Apostle is a 2018 folk horror movie from Netflix that's definitely underrated. Taking place in 1905, a former missionary learns that his sister has been kidnapped and he travels to a remote island to confront the cult responsible. Working undercover, he joins the community and gets to know its members as he tries to save his sister, while also discovering dark secrets that were never meant to come out. Alongside Stevens, Apostle stars Michael Sheen, Lucy Boynton, Mark Lewis Jones, Paul Higgins, Kristine Froseth, and Elen Rhys. It's written and directed by Gareth Evans.

The Rental

Dave Franco's feature directorial debut is the 2020 horror movie The Rental, following two couples who rent a beach house for a vacation weekend. Though their trip starts off ordinary enough, we quickly discover deceitfulness between the couples that creates increasing tension, all while they start to realize someone's been watching them. With various motivations and secrets that they try to keep buried, the couples fight to survive against both external and internal threats. Stevens stars as Charlie, one of the vacationers, alongside Alison Brie, Jeremy Allen White, and Sheila Vand.

Abigail

The most recent movie on this list is Abigail, which hit theaters earlier this year. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, this horror-comedy is a wildly fun and original ride following a heist gone wrong. When a group of kidnappers abduct the child of a powerful and wealthy crime boss, their mission is to make millions without getting caught. But they don't realize that they should be fearful of the young girl, Abigail, who is a vampire. Stevens was applauded for his performance as one of the criminals, and he stars alongside Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, Will Catlett, Alisha Weir, and the late Angus Cloud.

WHERE TO WATCH: Streaming on Peacock

As for Cuckoo, you can catch Stevens in the newly-released films right now in select theaters.
