Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster join Valentine’s Day-themed horror movie Heart Eyes

New cast additions for the upcoming Valentine's Day slasher Heart Eyes have been announced. Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster have reportedly joined the film's cast, which is currently in production in New Zealand.

We first learned of this film earlier this month. On June 10, Heart Eyes was announced to be in the works for Spyglass. It was described as an original horror romantic comedy with Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me) directing from a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), and Michael Kennedy (Freaky, It's a Wonderful Knife).

Here's what Ruben had to say about getting the opportunity to make the horror rom-com via Deadline:

"My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe."

Landon, Greg Gilreath, and Adam Hendricks were revealed to have signed on as producers, with Spyglass' Gary Barber and Chris Stone joining Murphy as executive producers. We also learned at the time that Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer, Totally Killer) and Mason Gooding (Scream VI, Fall) would be leading the cast and that production had officially started in New Zealand.

The horror flick's plot centers around a pair of co-workers in Seattle who, while working overtime at their job on Valentine’s Day, are mistaken for a couple by the Heart Eyes Killer, an infamous couple-hunting murderer. With the killer hot on their tail, the co-workers must do everything they can to survive the most romantic night of the year.

Although Holt and Gooding's characters' names have not been revealed yet, they're believed to be playing the pair of co-workers. Now, it's just been announced that Jordana Brewster (Fast X, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) and Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Nikita, Chucky) have been added to the cast. In addition, Gigi Zumbado (Hightown, Bridge and Tunnel) boards this campy horror rom-com. Unfortunately, who they all will be playing in the film is unknown at the moment.
