Dexter: Original Sin cast adds Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and Molly Brown
Where are all the Dexter fans? We now know who will be playing the titular character in the highly anticipated Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin. The rest of the Morgan family has been cast as well. More on this below.
We first learned of Dexter: Original Sin back in January 2023 when it was announced that a Dexter prequel series was in development that would center around a young version of the titular character. However, it wasn't titled Dexter: Original Sin at the time. Instead, it had a working title of Dexter: Origins. Then, in February 2023, the prequel was given a straight-to-series order by Showtime. It was also revealed that Dexter: New Blood creator Clyde Phillips would be behind the new show as showrunner and executive producer. The show's title would later be changed to Dexter: Original Sin.
Taking place 15 years before the events of Dexter, the 10-episode prequel follows a young Dexter Morgan in 1991 Miami. He's just graduated from college and has joined the Miami Metro Police Department as a forensics intern. But as his urge to kill intensifies, he finds himself turning to his adoptive father, Harry, for guidance. Harry introduces Dexter to "The Code," a set of guidelines that he must adhere to when selecting his victims and carrying out their murders. But Dexter soon realizes that it won't be easy living a double life as a serial killer while working for the police force.
Shadow and Bone's Patrick Gibson stars in the leading role of a young Dexter Morgan. Besides Shadow and Bone, you might also recognize Gibson from his other roles in the TV shows The OA, The White Princess and Before We Die. Joining him in the cast are Mr. Robot's Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Dexter's adoptive father and mentor, and Senior Year's Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, Dexter's younger sister. These are the only actors who have been cast so far in the prequel. As new cast additions are announced, we'll be sure to share them right away.
As of May 23, it's unknown when the prequel will be released, but when it does, it'll be available to stream on Paramount+. However, only Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers will have access to the series on the streamer.
