Today is the big day! In just a few hours, the first two episodes of Agatha All Along will be released on Disney+, and we can hardly contain our excitement. Seriously! Early reviews are in, and many critics are raving about this nine-episode dark fantasy miniseries. However, this isn't surprising, seeing as though its predecessor was a smash hit itself.

Oh, you didn't know. Agatha All Along is a spinoff of another Disney+ miniseries. That series is WandaVision, the first television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which premiered on Disney+ back in January 2021. Like Agatha All Along, WandaVision is based on Marvel Comics characters. It's based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision.

The miniseries centers around the newlywed couple and super-powered beings, Wanda and Vision, who live seemingly perfect lives in the town of Westview, New Jersey. That's until they start noticing anomalies in their perfect world, making it clear to them that things are not as they seem. Emmy nominees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany starred as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision in the series. Joining them in the cast were many other talented actors, including Kathryn Hahn, who portrayed Agnes/Agatha Harkness, another Marvel Comics character.

Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Along, a series taking place after the events of WandaVision and revolving around the once-powerful witch attempting to stage her comeback. That being said, you might be wondering if it's necessary to have watched the original series before watching the spinoff. Well, we're here to answer this burning question.

You will enjoy Agatha All Along just fine without having watched WandaVision

Of course, it's always best to watch an original series before watching its spinoff since this can help enrich the viewing experience. But it's not really necessary in Agatha All Along's case. You won't feel completely lost watching Agatha All Along if you haven't watched WandaVision. The spinoff briefly touches on what happened to Agatha at the end of WandaVision, so you'll know what's going on from the start.

However, people who have seen WandaVision will be able to spot the various Easter Eggs and references to the original series planted throughout the spinoff, which can make a viewing experience even more enjoyable. Also, since WandaVision introduced the Agatha character, having watched the original series would help viewers better understand her and her motives in the spinoff.

The spinoff also takes viewers back to Westview, where we meet some of the characters from WandaVision. People who have watched the original series will instantly recognize these characters, while people who have not will be lost on who they are and their importance to the story. But this is minor stuff, and not knowing it will not take away from your viewing experience.

So, to sum everything up, it isn't necessary to watch WandaVision before watching Agatha All Along. But if you have the time and want to watch the original series just because, be my guest. All nine episodes of the miniseries are streaming right now on Disney+. Agatha All Along episodes 1 and 2 are set to premiere on Disney+ on Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET.
