When the Fear Street trilogy was released on Netflix back in July 2021, tons of people immediately dropped what they were doing to stream each horror film. In the end, the trilogy was a major success with most critics and viewers having only positive things to say about the three horror flicks. Viewers enjoyed the movies so much that they were eager to know if there would be a fourth film. Well, we have great news to share with you, Fear Street fans. There will be a fourth movie, and it's called Fear Street: Prom Queen.

We first learned of there possibly being a fourth film back in July 2021 when the director of the Fear Street trilogy, Leigh Janiak, expressed interest in expanding the film series. Then, in July 2022, R.L. Stine, the author behind the book series the films are based on, announced that discussions were being had about there being additional movies. By December of that year, it was announced that Chloe Okuno would be directing the new installment and that Chernin Entertainment would return to produce.

In November 2023, we learned from Scott Stuber, Netflix's Head of Film, that the fourth Fear Street movie would be a standalone story from the Fear Street trilogy and that it was currently being written. Then, in January 2024, we found out which of Stine's novels would be adapted for the fourth film. It was revealed to be Stine's 1992 novel The Prom Queen. In March 2024, the film was officially announced with the title being Fear Street: Prom Queen.

It was also revealed at the time that Matt Palmer (Calibre) would be taking over directing duties from Okuno and that he had co-wrote the movie's screenplay with Donald McLeary. Chernin Entertainment would remain as the production studio behind the film. Plot and casting details were also revealed.

Unfortunately, an official release date has not been announced yet, but the good news is that the cast and crew are currently shooting the new film.
