One of the many horror movies to look forward to next year is The Bride! It's set to be released in theaters on Sept. 26, 2025, in IMAX, so make sure to save the date! Not only is Maggie Gyllenhaal directing, but during a new interview, her brother Jake Gyllenhaal revealed he has a part in the movie.

The Bride! is an upcoming sci-fi horror film helmed, written, and co-produced by Golden Globe Award-winning actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. It's a reimagining of the classic horror film, Bride Of Frankenstein, which itself is adapted from the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley.

Initially, Netflix was behind this new adaptation, but the streaming giant decided to drop it. Luckily, Warner Bros. Pictures swooped in and saved the day by picking it up and signing on to produce. The film will follow Frankenstein's love journey.

Academy winner Christian Bale stars as Frankenstein's monster, while Academy nominee Jessie Buckley stars as the monster's bride. Joining them in the cast are Penélope Cruz (Myrna), Peter Sarsgaard (a detective), Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, John Magaro, and Jeannie Berlin.

Jake Gyllenhaal is also in the cast, though we don't know who he's playing just yet. While chatting with The Hollywood Reporter, he talked about how he and Maggie have a close relationship and if you recall his recent hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, you might remember him wearing a "The Bride & Frank" T-shirt, in reference to her movie.

The horror flick takes place in 1930s Chicago. We see a lonely Frankenstein in pursuit of love. He seeks help from Dr. Euphronius in creating a mate for himself, so the mad scientist gives life to a recently murdered young woman who then becomes Frankenstein's bride. But the resurrection doesn't just spark a romance. It also brings about a radical social movement during this time.

Production on The Bride! officially started in March 2024, and as of May 27, filming is still ongoing. On April 4, Gyllenhaal shared the first images of Bale and Buckley in character as Frankenstein and the monster's bride via Instagram. Check them out below.
