Ella Purnell gave an amazing performance as Jackie Taylor in the hit horror-thriller series Yellowjackets, and many fans hated to see her character's demise. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long to see her back on our screens because she ended up taking on the main role of Lucy MacLean in the smash-hit post-apocalyptic drama series Fallout. Now, we've just learned that she's set to star in a new comedy-horror flick titled The Scurry. More on this below.

We learned of this great news from the news site Screen Daily. According to the site, Purnell will be starring in the leading role of a park attendant who must use her "unique skills and strength" to fight off and survive a band of of deranged squirrels who begin wreaking havoc at her job. Joining her in the cast are Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon), Paapa Essiedu (The Lazarus Project), and Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor) in undisclosed roles. Talented English actresses Olivia Cooke and Mia McKenna-Bruce were initially attached to the film but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

When two pest controllers are called to a country park café to investigate a routine vermin problem, chaos erupts when a group of killer squirrels arrive at nightfall, seeking revenge on the staff and visitors. That's what The Scurry is about.

Welsh actor and director Craig Roberts is helming the comedy-horror from a screenplay penned by Tim Telling. Roberts is known for directing the films Just Jim, Eternal Beauty and The Phantom of the Open, while Telling is best known for writing for the TV shows The Mash Report and Late Night Mash.

In addition, James Swarbrick is producing for Water & Power and Adrian Bate for Cliff Edge. Roberts, Tom Miller, Sam Myer, Zygi Kamasa, James Spring, James Scott, Joe Simpson, and Simon Williams are all signed on as executive producers.

As of May 15, the cameras are currently rolling on the film in the United Kingdom with production also taking place at Dragon Studios in South Wales. Since the movie is being filmed at the moment, we obviously won't be hearing of a release date anytime soon. However, we'll be sure to share it right away once it is revealed. But for now, that's all we know about The Scurry. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for new updates on the comedy-horror flick!
