Need a soundtrack for your Halloween party? Check out The Boulet Brothers' Halloween House Party EP
By Carla Davis
With the sixth season of Dragula set to release on Shudder October 1, the Boulet Brothers are already on a hot streak. But, the Boulets are not satisfied to simply rest on their laurels with that news; instead, they have another Halloween-related project that will also be releasing in early October.
Dracmorta and Swanthula have recorded a new EP that promises to provide the perfect playlist for all of your spooky season activities. The Boulet Brothers’ Halloween House Party will debut via PEG Records on October 4, and you can listen to one of the songs right now. Check out the link at the end of this article to hear All Hallows’ Eve, which is described as “a swooning affectionate ode” to Halloween
Listening to it feels like you are stepping back into the 1960s. It even includes the little pops and scratches one would hear when listening to an old vinyl album, and it’s easy to picture yourself playing the album while carving a jack o’ lantern, enjoying a hay ride and hosting a Halloween party.
The Boulet Brothers’ Halloween House Party EP is described in the press release as “a bewitching fusion of 1960s pop, surf rock, and psychobilly, enriched with the shimmer of modern electronica.” Drac and Swan both say they adore everything vintage Halloween – decorations, music and the like, so their new album speaks to that love.
The six track EP includes the following songs:
Requiem for Halloween
All Hallows’ Eve
Ghost Train
Nosferatu Beach Party
Trick or Treat
The Vampire Song
In addition to the Dragula series, The Boulet Brothers have also created Dragula: Titans and The Boulet Brothers’ Halfway to Halloween TV Special, both of which can be streamed on Shudder. Halfway to Halloween harkens back to vintage television variety shows and specials, and feels very much like their new album sounds. Just as those tv specials did, it features famous horror icon guests, such as Kevin Smith, David Dastmalchian and Barbara Crampton. It’s a retro blast, and I recommend watching it during the upcoming Halloween season if you haven’t already.
And if you still don’t feel like you have had enough of the Boulets, check out Joe Bob Briggs’s Valentine’s special, Joe Bob’s Heartbreak Trailer Park. The Boulet Brothers appear as special guests during the screening of Black Roses, one of the featured films.
