Horror fans are invited to an epic weekend-long slumber party at THE Stanley Hotel this October 18-20. Yes, the iconic Colorado hotel that inspired the Overlook Hotel in the Stephen King classic The Shining, and has acted as a filming location on more than one occasion.

1428 Elm can reveal that Blumhouse and Peacock have prepared an exciting and terrifying weekend they've dubbed the "Overnightmare" experience. It will include a two-night stay in the hallowed—and quite possibly haunted—halls of the Stanley.

So, what does booking this weekend experience include? A lot.

  • Immersive experiences based around popular Blumhouse titles with double-occupancy rooms themed to The Purge, Happy Death Day, Insidious, and Freaky
  • Free nightly screenings for various titles, like the new Peacock horror series Teacup, executive produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster
  • One scare experience
  • Complimentary welcome dinner
  • Two complimentary drink tickets for the Blumhouse Bar
  • Interactive moments, photo ops, and more!
  • $100 credit toward breakfast and/or lunch at The Lodge restaurant Brunch & Co

Select your immersive scare experience

One of the coolest aspects of the Overnightmare special is that fans can choose just how terrified they want to be. As mentioned above, the rooms are themed to four classic Blumhouse titles, and each corresponds to how intensely terrifying things will be.

"Will you survive the relentless evil of Insidious? Face the chaos of The Purge? Step into the twisted fun of Freaky? Or relive the repeating terror of Happy Death Day? "

When you head to the website to book your stay, you'll be given the option of choosing your room. Each has a different scale to determine scariness, with Insidious described as the "most intense scare experience," while the time loop terror of the Happy Death Day experience is the tamest, "all the thrills without too many chills." Freaky is the level 2 option, while The Purge is as scary as you can go before Insidious.

"Based on your selection, you will be dragged—we mean, invited—into the world of that film for a fright night you won’t soon forget."

It looks like all four rooms and experiences are priced the same. Right now, the site lists each room at $1,031 for the complete package, which includes everything mentioned above.

It should be noted that this is an R-rated event and only for people aged 21 and over. The website also includes warnings about strobing effects, loud noises throughout, prop weaponry like chainsaws and knives, creature effects, gore, inappropriate language, and more. Check out the site for a complete list of warnings.

Space is limited, so if you are interested in attending, you'll want to book ASAP. The event takes place from October 18-20, 2024.
