Are you a Prime Video subscriber? If so, there are many great horror and sci-fi options available to you this May, including several of Alfred Hitchcock's most famous films and the X sequel Pearl, which is a great follow-up from director Ti West and star Mia Goth. Outer Range season 2 premieres, and Amazon is adding multiple Hellraiser movies.

Pearl: An X-traordinary Origin Story (2022)

  • Prime Video release date: May 16

With MaXXXine, the third movie in Ti West and Mia Goth's horror-slasher trilogy arriving this July, now is a good time to revisit X and Pearl. Prime Video is adding the 2022 film this month, on May 16, so you'll be able to watch or rewatch if you've never seen the film before.

A prequel to X, Pearl follows the antagonist from X as a young woman who wants to be a glamorous movie star more than anything, but her strict mother won't let her, resulting in Pearl doing whatever she can to escape from under her mother's thumb and follow her dreams.

Outer Range season 2

  • Prime Video premiere date: May 16

The second season of Amazon's Josh Brolin-led Neo-Western science fiction series Outer Range premieres this month, and all seven episodes will be released on the same day. Brolin returns as the rancher Royal Abbott, who has been trying to keep people from stealing his land. This is complicated by a very mysterious black hole opening up on his land. Check out the trailer above to see what's in store for the Abbotts this season.

Alfred Hithcock movies The Birds, Psycho, and Rear Window

Several of Alfred Hitchcock's most iconic movies were just added to Prime Video! If you've never seen these, what have you been waiting for!?

  • The Birds (1963)
  • Psycho (1960)
  • Rear Window (1954)

Psycho is probably the most well-known of the three, but Rear Window is definitely another extremely influential movie with The Birds following up both of them. Psycho is one of the earliest slasher movies and gave us iconic characters like Norman and Norma Bates while Rear Window has helped shape the thriller genre and you can see its impact all over modern cinema.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956)

Based on the 1954 novel The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney, this 1956 sci-fi horror film is considered a classic and still pretty terrifying even today.

Although this movie isn't quite as popular as its 1978 remake (a rare case when many prefer the remake to the original), it's still worth watching if you're a genre fan. Set during an alien invasion of a California town, these extraterrestrials produce creepy pods that can make identical copies of any human they wish.

The Hunt (2020)

In a riff on "The Most Dangerous Game," The Hunt is a dark satire centers on a mysterious organization that kidnaps 12 people and takes them to a clearing to participate in a deadly game in which they hunt humans for sport.

The Hunt stars Emma Roberts, Hilary Swank, Betty Gilpin, and Ike Barinholtz. As far as the political commentary goes in this movie, it's not all that effective but The Hunt is still a relatively entertaining and surprisingly funny thriller.

More horror movies added to Prime Video on May 1

  • Panic Room (2002)
  • The Ring
  • The Purge: Anarchy
  • The Purge: Election Year
  • The Night of The Hunter
  • Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth
  • Hellraiser IV: Bloodline
  • Hellraiser V: Inferno
  • Hellraiser VI: Hellseeker
  • Hellraiser VII: Deader
  • Hellraiser VIII: Hellworld
